If it's too thick you can trim some off, far easier than welding it back on. PostPosted: Yesterday 7:50 pm Post subject: Re: ICON VW pistons The key will be selling the boss man on this. Posted: Wed 9:11 am Post subject: Re: ICON VW pistonsĬurrently AA is your best option for the barrels, but I am working on procuring barrels for both the 94's and the 92's with someone I work with on the regular who has Higher standards for barrels hardness and material. Already have crank, rods and 94mm revmaster long cylinders. I am interested in a set for the Berg GBF crank carrillo rod 2387cc engine I am collecting parts for. Great to see someone is doing a 4032 piston. How much they weigh would be nice to know also. Posted: Wed 6:07 am Post subject: Re: ICON VW pistonsĪre the pins offset? Seeing the arrow on top makes me think yes they are offset. Location: Sarasota, in my adopted state of Florida Great to see top quality stuff coming out. I imagine they are made from an existing forging or I’d never consider having new tooling made just for vws. You can’t get a cheap piston made correctly that’s got everything done. Posted: Tue 10:45 pm Post subject: Re: ICON VW pistonsĪ cheaper piston isn’t going to have. Looks like a cummins B piston back there too The pin looks short, that will help save weight. I like the width in-between the bosses, but that top land is awfully thick and the piston looks heavy. I want to offer "C's" in the near future for both bores, I want to do 90.5's also its going to be a matter of getting these out there to justify the additional sizes and compression heights. Pistons, Pins, Locks (ROUND WIRE) and Rings. Posted: Tue 4:15 pm Post subject: Re: ICON VW pistons You hit the major sizes, but what about a 94C height? I have been hoping for a more affordable 94c to make the 86mm crank and 5.7" rod engines super easy and stock width. M42 skirt coating protects against dry starts giving abrasion protection on engine start. Double broach and forced pin oilers, keeping that pin lubricated is critical in a floating pin application. Full round design provides strength where it counts giving rigidity to the skirt where it is needed. We wanted to use a ring pack that would stand up to boosted applications but also be easily sourced should the customer want to go with a total seal ring down the line. Anodized Crown and first ring groove to prevent ring micro welding and abrasion protection with an added benefit of acting like a thermal barrier piston slap is greatly reduced on cold startups. Forged 4032 Alloy, Higher silicon content allows tighter piston to wall clearance than a 2618 forging.
